Growing Together: Agriculture Is Alive & Well in Canyon County

The AG Forum celebrates agriculture in the Treasure Valley by bringing together farmers, agribusiness leaders, policymakers, and the broader business community to highlight the vital role agriculture and food processing play in Southern Idaho’s economy.

This year’s forum features an engaging and optimistic presentation from Growing Together, led by Keri Smith and George Crookham. Their message is clear: agriculture is alive and well in Canyon County—and worth protecting.

The presentation will focus on three key themes:

• Property Rights & Land Use – Understanding what property rights allow, the role of zoning, and how LUPA impacts agricultural landowners.
• The Value of Agriculture – A look at the cost of services and why balancing agricultural and residential growth matters for long-term sustainability.
• Agriculture & Taxes – Why agriculture is unique in Canyon County, the role it plays in tax structure, and why it’s not too late to preserve what makes our region special.

Additional program highlights include an address from the Governor of Idaho, a local FFA student speaker returning by popular demand, and an exhibit area at the Ford Idaho Sports Center where local businesses can showcase their products and services.
