Voting is a Hard-Earned Right and Privilege

Voting is a Hard-Earned Right and Privilege

Mitch's Message

The freedom to choose your own administration is one that characterizes democracy. It is a right that has been earned through the hardships suffered by past generations, quite possibly including your very own. It's a right that marks democracy apart from other modes of governance. It must be cherished, not discarded.

To lead by example, the Nampa Chamber will go above and beyond to allow employees the time and opportunity to vote. To that end, we will provide employees a paid break to vote. If they've already chosen to be a part of the mail-in option, then I encourage them to use that time to:

  • Pray for our Country, State, County, City, and Elected Officials,
  • Do a random act of kindness for someone,
  • Volunteer their time, or
  • Use the time to check in on a friend.

I encourage you (our businesses) to do all that you possibly can to support your employees and allow them the time and opportunity to vote. Let November 3rd be a day of positive impact and influence for Nampa, regardless of political parties. Let's make sure our vote is placed, and our voice is heard while focusing on what we can control here in Nampa on a day to day basis. Let's break records of the highest turnout of voters in Canyon County ever to be recorded.

Our youth are watching. Let's lead by example by taking our voting rights and privilege seriously. Let's be civil while encouraging others to engage civically. Culture is contagious, and our businesses have the opportunity to lead.

Please plan to do your part to vote on or before November 3rd.
