Our keynote speaker is the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education State Administrator, Clay Long, Ph.D. Clay will provide an update on state-wide efforts for continued alignment and workforce training for Idahoans through career technical education.
About the speaker:
Dr. Clay Long has served as the State Administrator for the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education (IDCTE) since November 2019. With the mission of preparing Idaho’s youth and adults for high-skill, in-demand careers, the Division is responsible for the leadership and oversight of career technical education through Idaho’s secondary and postsecondary institutions along with adult education, G.E.D., STAR motorcycle training, and fire service training.
With a team of about 50 employees and an annual budget of over $82 million, Dr. Long provides strategic leadership for continued growth and delivery of services to the over 170,000 learners annually.
Prior to serving as the administrator, Dr. Long served as the Chief of Staff for Nampa’s mayor, Debbie Kling, a secondary teacher (fire services) and a district administrator for career technical education. He holds his bachelor’s degree in business administration, a master’s degree as an educational specialist, and a Ph.D. in educational leadership. In addition to his role with IDCTE, Dr. Long serves as volunteer firefighter and board member for several organizations.
